COVID-19 Update
October 3, 2020
The New Horizons Federal Credit union lobbies in West Point and Houston are open for business but on a limited basis. Six to eight people are allowed in the lobby at West Point and two in the Houston Lobby.
We ask that you consider social distancing at all times and please wear a face covering while inside the lobbies. If the lobby is backed up to the door on the six-foot spots in West Point, please wait outside until you see the line move. Exit through the west door to your left.
If your business can be conducted at the drive-up window, we ask that you use it instead of coming inside.
If you have business with a loan officer, we recommend you call ahead, and we will give you an appointment. Regrettably, we are not allowing seated waiting in the lobby.
Your board of directors appreciates the patience you have shown the staff during this very trying business period. While we can’t cure the Coronavirus, we are doing everything in our power to prevent its spread.
Thank you again for using your credit union.
COVID-19 Update
July 29, 2020
Due to the recent spike in Covid cases in Clay and surrounding counties the board of New Horizons has ordered the immediate closure of the lobbies in West Point and Houston.
The drive-up window will remain open in West Point and members will be served individually at the door of the Houston office.
If you need a loan or have other business that requires coming inside the credit union, please call ahead and make an appointment. We will ask that you allow us to take your temperature with a touchless thermometer before entering.
We regret this imposition but believe it is best for your protection as well as for those who serve you.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this extremely frustrating period.

COVID-19 Update
April 27, 2020
As the COVID-19 pandemic begins to loosen its grip on the state, we are also trying to find ways to increase service to our members. Beginning Monday, April 27th, the credit union drive-up window will be open every day from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. The lobby will also open every day but by appointment only. Please call ahead and be sure we can accommodate you before you come to the credit union lobby.
We have constructed sneeze guards at all workstations, both tellers and loan officers, for your protection as well as for the protection of our staff. We apologize for this inconvenience. If you have an appointment to come in the lobby, please use the hand sanitizer available immediately upon entry. For your protection, our staff uses hand sanitizer after waiting on each member and washes their hands for at least 20 seconds or longer with soap and warm water as frequently as time permits.
There appears to be much confusion about the recent checks the government has issued. Fraud is running rampant as fraudsters attempt to take advantage of this situation. Your credit union will do everything it can to see that you are protected but you must do your part. Do not talk to anyone on the phone or respond to emails about your check. Call the credit union and please be patient as we try to sort out what is happening. If you attempt to deposit a check from a bank we do not recognize, we may have to put a short hold on it to be sure it is valid. Do not give your password, account number, social security number, or birth date to anyone who calls, texts, or emails you, no matter how convincing they may sound. It will be a fraud and you could lose substantial money.
We appreciate your patience as your staff works untiringly to provide the services you need during these unusual times. If the phone is not answered, please try again. If there are long lines at the drive-up, don’t leave the line or drive on by. You will be served quicker than you think. If we cannot immediately accommodate you inside the credit union, help us find another time when we can. We understand your stress and we want to be an answer, not another problem for you to worry about.
And remember, the pandemic is not over. The most important thing we all can and must still do to weather this pandemic is to stay at home and maintain social distance until it starves.

We appreciate your patience as your staff works untiringly to provide the services you need during these unusual times. If the phone is not answered, please try again. If we cannot immediately accommodate you inside the credit union, help us find another time when we can. We understand your stress and we want to be an answer not another problem to worry about.
We continue to do everything we can to protect our members who visit the credit union, either inside or at the drive-up. Our staff is washing hands often and using hand sanitizer after each member is served during busy periods. They are wearing masks to protect you from their germs, sheltering in place while not working and being conscious of who they come in contact with.
And while it is inconvenient for some of you, we will continue to be closed on Wednesday except when Wednesday falls on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd of the month. This limits the exposure of our staff and gives them time for deep cleaning and sanitation of the credit union surfaces.
There are many ways we can help you if you are facing financial difficulty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But you must ask for our help and we encourage you to do so at your earliest convenience.
Currently, we are open Monday and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to serve you. However, to prepare for a service disruption we strongly encourage you to complete the following:
- Test your Home Banking access Usernames and Passwords to ensure you have access to your accounts via your phone and home computer. If you haven’t set up Home Banking yet, now is a great time.
- Test your Debit Card. Many of us use our debit card regularly, but some do not. If you haven’t used your card in a while, it might not be a bad idea to make sure it is working by making a purchase and an ATM withdrawal. This will ensure that in a severe outbreak that closes your credit union temporarily, you still have access to cash and the ability to purchase food, medicine and fuel.
And remember, the most important thing we all can and must do to weather this pandemic is to stay at home and maintain social distance until it starves.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
(Last Update March 20, 2020)
We are increasing our telephone and electronic access and other means of support during this time to continue to provide the best service possible. We are committed to keeping our members and team safe and healthy. In this spirit, we will be making the following operational changes:
The lobby of the West Point office will be closed except by appointment. If you can transact your business at the drive-up window, please do so.
If you need a loan or other business that requires a meeting with a staff member, please call ahead and make an appointment. We want to continue to serve you as efficiently as possible, but safety is our utmost concern.
If you are in the office for business, we are requesting that you use the available hand sanitizer before handling papers or pens. Our staff does this also and washes their hands frequently throughout the day to keep you safe.
Our Houston Office will be closing at 4:30 p. m. until further notice. Since we do not have a drive-up window at this office, we are asking that you limit the number of members in the office to two at any time. If you feel unsafe coming inside to make a deposit or withdrawal, call ahead and we will bring it to your car. If you need a loan, call for an appointment.
If you have a loan with us and you are laid off due to a government-mandated shutdown, call us immediately and let us work with you to maintain your good credit. We have many options and we are willing to use as many of them as necessary to assist you. But you must call us.
These are fearful times. The Coronavirus is so highly contagious that separation is the only way to prevent its spread. We want to do our part to keep you and your staff as safe as feasible, but we also want to provide the services you need and expect during these unusual times.
Thank you for your continued support as we all work together to get through this.
